Sunnydale AU: definitions

First thing about college that sucks: Classes started two days before Sunnydale High.

Cal is also not excited about his classes themselves.

He does have to admit, though, that not having to be awake practically before sunrise has been pretty awesome. And today he got out at roughly the time Sunnydale High does, which he'll have to mention to Sherlock - there are three days in his week when Cal will be able to give him a ride home.

. . . although, judging from the ancient red truck with the hot girl driving it that Cal passed on his way up the driveway, that may not be an issue.

He's still smirking as he heads for the door.

"I have to be," Cal says reasonably, "if anyone else is going to. I can make all the sense I want, but if people think I don't believe it, they won't either."

Not "if." When. Cal is confident about that, too.

"Nope."

"Well, I am disinclined to cast her as my personal Irene Adler, but I at least expect she will contribute to making the year less dull than it otherwise could have been."

Smugly.

"I didn't say anything."

"I could hear you thinking it."

"You're just annoyed because someone caught you acting like a normal human being," Cal theorizes. "It's okay, I won't tell."

"A normal human being? Me? Perish the thought."

"Sorry," Cal says. "The evidence is pretty conclusive."

Even with Sherlock wearing - that.

"You have a crush on a girl."

Does he even need more than that?

"I do not. I am considering befriending a girl."

"Yeah, it's still evidence even if you're in denial," Cal informs him helpfully.

He decides that any comparisons between what he may or may not think of Bella and what he thinks of Cal at this very moment are right out.

"I bow to your superior logic. Clearly we have had quite an influence on one another."
