"Sorry, love. Business of importance," he says with a wink, and is in the car in the next three seconds.

—Sherlock snorts at the quote.

The car starts up as soon as Sherlock is in the seat, and is driving out of the garage the second after that.

Cal is really looking forward to killing someone tonight.

"So," Sherlock asks cheerfully. "How d'you like my better half?"

"He's good in bed" - or against wall, whatever - "but otherwise, he's a pain in the ass."

Five minutes ago, that answer would probably have been different, but Cal doesn't like being told what to do. He got his fill of that and then some when he was human.

"What, because he doesn't approve of our eating habits? Let him disapprove. If he were going to do something about it, you would never have gotten out of that garage."

"Maybe I'll kill someone extra just for him," Cal says.

"As long as you are prepared to deal with him knowing about it."

Personally, Sherlock thinks the ensuing confrontation would be great fun. To watch. From a different part of the house.

"There wouldn't be any point if he didn't," Cal says. "I could drop their wallet off or something, he'd figure it out."

What, he's supposed to stick around for that?

"And run? From him? Are you quite sure you've thought this through?" he teases.

"Milliways," Cal reminds him.

"Well, there is that. If you left for someone else's world and never returned, you might have a shot. Or you could avoid the whole mess by not dropping a murder in his lap like a cat leaving vanquished mice on mummy's pillow."

"Yeah," Cal says, "but that's no fun." His tone is somewhat milder, though; the initial fit of pique is passing.

"But either way, I wouldn't even get to see the look on his face. That would suck."

"And I would be moderately heartbroken if he set you on fire," Sherlock says lightly.

Cal snorts.

"Yeah, I wouldn't be too happy about it, either."

He laughs. "I imagine so."

"Okay," he decides, "I guess I won't tell him."

"Very sensible of you."

"I thought so."

Cal makes a sharp turn.

"I can always make up for it later, anyway."

"Oh, that sounds like fun."

Cal grins.

"It will be," he says. "Maybe I'll skip the sticking around and get right to the making up for it."

"Suit yourself. I'm staying long enough to be sure Tony is all right."

Are vampires not supposed to get sentimental? To hell with that.

"At least in part because they are both such delicious creatures," he adds, to be fair.

Cal smirks at that last.

"Definitely my turn with Tony tomorrow." Speaking of being fair.

"We're taking turns now, are we? Pity."

"Well, we do want to give them time to replace what we take."

Sherlock's point is definitely an interesting one, though. Cal will have to contemplate it. At length.
